SAN JOSE, Antique – Sugar workers, or sacadas, in Antique are set to receive 11 Bulgarian carabulls on the second week of November.

Provincial Veterinarian Romeo Magdato said the carabulls – which cost P80,000 to P100,000 each – will come from the Philippine Carabao Center in Nueva Ecija.

The carabulls will be given to sacadas chosen from five towns in the province.

“The carabulls will be crossbred with the native female carabaos here so they could produce high-breed kids,” Magdato said.

The Bulgarian carabulls are high-breed animals proven to grow faster and bigger, which is good for meat and dairy production, Magdato added.

“Each sacada recipient who will be identified will be given one bull,” Magdato said.

Two bulls will each be given in Hamtic, Sebaste, Anini-y and Tobias Fornier, while in Pandan, three. (With PNA/PN)
