SAN JOSE, Antique – The provincial government will provide financial assistance to the victims of a storm surge in the municipality of Belison.
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao on Monday said he directed the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) to give aid to the affected residents of Sitio Baybay, Barangay Poblacion.
The cash assistance will be sourced from the fund under PSWDO’s Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), added Cadiao.
“The provincial government will provide AICS to those with partially and totally damaged houses,” the governor said.
There are around 28 households affected by the storm surge, according to PSWDO administrative officer Noemi Tagle, citing a report from Barangay Poblacion village chief Christopher Piccio.
“We immediately delivered rice to the victims,” Tagle said.
The affected residents whose houses were totally damaged will receive P10,000 while those with partially destroyed houses, P5,000.
The assessment was still ongoing as of this writing.
Cadiao reminded residents to be extra careful amid the heavy rains that the southwest monsoon brings.
“Just be watchful especially at night when there is usually heavy downpour,” she said. (With a report from PNA/PN)
