ANTIQUE – The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (APTCAO) here will set up desks to assist guests, athletes, and officials who would like to tour different spots in the province during the 2025 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet from March 1 to 8.

APTCAO head Irish Manlapaz on Tuesday, February 25, said they would establish tourism desks in different WVRAA playing and billeting areas beginning Friday, February 28.

“There will be APTCAO personnel in the WVRAA playing and billeting areas that would coordinate for the tours,” she said.

She said the APTCAO would coordinate with the transport sector and the resort owners, who were informed earlier to prepare for the visits.

Among the tourist destinations are the Calawag Mountain Resort, known for its kawa hot bath in Tibiao, Madja-as Park in Culasi for its Disneyland rides, Aningalan known for its strawberry farm in San Remigio, and the Siraan Hot Spring and Nogas Island in Anini-y town.

Manlapaz added they already accredited 21 accommodations or homestays as hotels in San Jose de Buenavista are fully booked.

More than 2,000 athletes and officials are joining the annual regional sports event that kicks off on March 2.

Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique Sports Officer Dr. Oliver Servillon said the playing venues for the 23 sporting events are almost ready, except for the football layout and the oval track rubber overlay, which they are rushing to finish before the opening ceremony.

“Preparation of the playing venues is now 90 percent completed,” Servillon said.

He also said that delegations from the six provinces in Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental, have begun arriving in Antique. (PNA)
