SAN JOSE, Antique – A village in the northern municipality of Sebaste, Antique is enforcing a “one entry, one exit” policy to limit the movement of people. It started on Aug. 4 and would last until Aug. 15.

Barangay Idio chairperson Pamela Socorro Azucena said the policy covers both residents and non-residents.

Only 10 persons are allowed to go out each day, except for those who have to go out to work. They are also required to secure a travel pass that they have to present to officials manning the entry-exit point.

Azucena said their barangay council also passed an ordinance imposing penalties to those violating the minimum health protocols.

For the non-wearing of facemask, those caught the first time will be fined P200, P500 for the second time, and P800 for the third offense and succeeding offenses.

Azucena, also the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Antique, said the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) reminded barangay officials to carry out their duties and responsibilities in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

In a virtual meeting on August 3, DILG regional director Juan Jovian Ingeniero said barangay chairpersons should strictly implement the minimum public health standards and go massive with information dissemination so their constituents will understand why they have to stay in their homes to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

Antique, which is on general community quarantine with heightened restrictions until Aug. 15, has three recorded cases of the contagious Delta variant of COVID-19. (PNA)
