SAN JOSE, Antique – Personnel from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently visited the family of fallen soldier 1st Lieutenant Jarren Jay Relota in Barangay 3 in this capital town.
The DILG personnel – led by Assistant Regional Director Maria Calpiza Sardua – discussed with the family the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CSBP) for soldiers who were killed in action.
Mayor Elmer Untaran was also present during the visit.
Relota died in an encounter with NPA rebels in Sitio Quiambao, Barangay Mapula, Paquibato district,Davao City on Jan. 25.
DILG information officer Judy Mae Magdato said government agencies are ready to provide social benefits package for the dependents of soldiers and policemen who are killed or wounded during the conduct of their operations.
The DILG and the Department of the National Defense jointly implemented the CSBP after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered to extend assistance to families of fallen soldiers and policemen.
The CSBP covers members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police who were killed or hurt in action since July 2016.
The government will give the families or dependents of killed soldiers and police P500,000 worth of financial assistance and other benefits.
The first tranche worth P250,000 will be given upon the completion of required documents. The remaining half will be released upon the completion of required trainings or submission of livelihood proposals.
Soldiers or police officers wounded in action with permanent physical disabilities will get P250,000 while those with major or minor injuries, P100,000. (PIA/PN)
