SAN REMIGIO, Antique – Fourteen farmers associations (FAs) in San Remigio, Antique will benefit from the farm tools and inorganic fertilizers worth P989,708 turned over by the Department of Agriculture Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program recently.
These interventions, funded under the 2020 budget, aims to support the SAAD rice and corn production projects in the municipality.
According to Sonie Guanco, provincial area coordinator, the Samahan kang Mangunguma kag Mamumugon kang Agricula, Sinundolan ISF Upland FA, and Walker Upland FA received one unit of hammer mill and two rice reapers worth P515,000.
Moreover, a total of 829 bags of Triple 14 and 462 bags of urea fertilizers were also distributed to the different farmers’ groups, namely the Rizal Upland FA, Sumaray Upland FA, Libudon FA, Mt. Piton Upland FA, Magpungay Cave Upland FA, Insubuan FA, Cabungaan San Remigio Antique FA, and Alegria FA.
Guanco said, “these interventions will certainly speed up the farm activities of the beneficiaries and will likewise improve their rice and corn production performance.”
DA-SAAD had so far turned over a total of ₱9,875,080.87 worth of interventions to San Remigio farmers since 2019 as to date.(SMHToreno/DA-6/PN)
