BACOLOD City – A sakada was injured after he was shot and hacked by his co-workers around 9 p.m. on Saturday in Hacienda Nakab, Barangay Bubog, Talisay City.

Joemarie Sollano Juayno, 35, a native of Sibalom, Antique province, reportedly called the attention of his overseer, John Noel Fernando, 45, of Tibiao, Antique and Stephen Martin to keep quiet because other sakadas were already asleep in their quarters.

Fernando and Martin were drinking, Juayno said.

Feeling insulted, the suspects took a .45-caliber pistol and a cane cutter. They shot and hacked Juayno, who sustained wounds on his chest and arms, investigation disclosed.

The victim was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Talisay City police said other witnesses claimed the victim was drunk and unruly which angered Fernando and Martin.
