
ANTIQUE – Losses in agriculture in this province were pegged at nearly P7 million due to the Typhoon “Egay”-enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.
An estimated P6,950,251 worth of damage to 223.55 hectares of rice and corn was incurred, affecting 298 farmers, data (as of Aug. 2) from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 6 showed.
Here’s the breakdown of losses per municipality:
* Hamtic – eight hectares of rice and corn valued at P232,325, affecting 16 farmers
* Laua-an – 50 hectares of rice and corn valued at P842,000, affecting 80 farmers
* Valderrama – 28.25 hectares of rice and corn valued at P848,035.71, affecting 45 farmers
* Culasi – 6.95 hectares of rice and corn valued at P213,506.76, affecting seven farmers
* Barbaza – 130.3 hectares of rice and corn valued at P4,814,383.93, affecting 150 farmers
The province also recorded 272 damaged houses, of which 12 were totally wrecked and 272 partially.

* Belison – two (all partially damaged)
* Culasi – four (all partially damaged)
* Hamtic – 11 (all partially damaged)

* San Remigio – 71 (seven totally damaged, 64 partially damaged)
* Sibalom – 111 (all partially damaged)
* Tibiao – four (all partially damaged)
* Tobias Fornier – two (all partially damaged)
* Valderrama – 56 (three totally damaged, 53 partially damaged).
About P1.5 million worth of damage was also recorded on four infrastructure projects, particularly roads and bridges in the municipalities of Valderrama and Sibalom./PN
