MANILA – Bacolod City native Trixie Antiquiera came up with her best game in the UAAP Season 80 when it mattered most to lead National University Lady Bulldogs in completing a four-peat in women’s basketball.

Antiquiera poured in season-high 30 points, including a 7-of-11 shooting from 3-point line, for Lady Bulldogs to defeat University of the East Lady Warriors 89-61 in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals.

Antiquiera followed this up with a 19-point performance, including six outside conversions, in Lady Bulldogs’ come-from-behind 79-68 triumph over Lady Bulldogs in Game 2.

“Masaya kasi lahat ng extra shooting ko after ng practice, iyon naman nagbunga,” said Antiquiera, who was named the Finals MVP. “Since final year ko na, pinramis ko na gagawin ko ang best ko. All-out na ito. Bigay ko na lahat ng kaya ko.”

Lady Bulldogs head coach Patrick Aquino lauded the effort of Antiquiera, who played limited minutes in the eliminations before coming out with her best game in the finals.

“It was a good win. I’m just happy for the girls, especially Trixie. She was having a grand time sa 3 points. Hindi ko masyadong ini-expect, at least ngayon, lumabas,” Aquino said.

Aside from winning four straight UAAP women’s basketball championships, Lady Bulldogs has not tasted defeat in its last 64 games in the league./PN
