SAN JOSE, Antique – Employers must apply the new minimum daily wage rates for private sector workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) stressed.
New minimum daily wage rates took effect in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental starting mid-March, DOLE provincial manager Lorraine Villegas told a media forum.
Under Wage Order No. RBVI-23, the new minimum wage in the non-agriculture/industrial/commercial sector employing more than 10 workers is P323.50, up from the previous P298.50, and in those employing 10 workers and below, P271.50, up from P256.50.
The new rates resulted from a series of consultations held by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 6.
In the agriculture sector, the adjusted rates are P281.50 (from the previous P266.50) for plantation workers and P271.50 (from the previous P256.50) for non-plantation workers.
DOLE is disseminating these information to make the employers and their employees aware, Villegas said. (PNA)
