ILOILO City – The appointments of Dr. Annabelle Tang and Cherry Ampig as new heads of the City Health Office (CHO) and Local Civil Registry (LCR), respectively, still need the approval of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said all appointments made by him and confirmed by the city council will be submitted to the CSC.
The city council, during Wednesday’s regular session, confirmed Tang and Ampig’s appointments.
“If the appointments of Dr. Ann Tang and Cherry Ampig will be disapproved by the CSC then they will return to their previous positions,” said Treñas.
Their appointments were “conditional” because the former departments heads of the CHO and LCR who were both dismissed from service filed an appeal and it is still pending at the CSC.
Tang and Ampig, meanwhile, expressed willingness to return to their respective posts if their appointments are not approved.
The city’s former civil registrar was Romeo Cesar “Juncae” Manikan while CHO’s former head was Dr. Bernard Caspe.
Ampig also has a pending criminal case filed by Manikan for alleged falsification of public document while Tang was accused by Caspe of perjury and serious dishonesty and conduct unbecoming of a public officer before the Office of the Ombudsman./PN
