ILOILO – The P26.7 million aquaculture feed mill being constructed in Barangay Buyu-an, Tigbauan, Iloilo is eyed to provide high-quality feeds at a stable price using raw materials sourced from local farmers.
The project proponent, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, sourced funds from its budget allocation, combining the funding of the National Fisheries Program with support from the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) Aquaculture Department.
Dan Baliao, SEAFDEC chief, said the facility, which is expected to generate five metric tons of feeds daily, could help increase and sustain aquaculture production in the region.
“The establishment of an aquaculture feed mill plant in Visayas will help boost the production of farmers using formulated, cost-effective, and nutritionally balanced feeds,” Baliao noted. (PIA)/PN
