BACOLOD City – Government Service Insurance System president and general manager Jesus Clint Aranas could not make it in the 120th Independence Day celebration in this capital city today.
He has to travel abroad, according to Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia.
Aranas was supposed to be the guest speaker in today’s program.
“He will send a representative,” Leonardia said in a press conference yesterday.
The Independence Day celebration in the city will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at the public plaza at 6:30 a.m.
A wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, also located at the plaza, will follow, then the program.
There will also be an Independence Day parade starting at 1:00 p.m. – from the Sacred Heart Shrine (Lupit Church) to the plaza.
Rep. Greg Gasataya, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, top city and national government officials, city employees, war veterans, civic leaders, and private citizens are expected to attend the program./PN
