ILOILO City – The Archdiocese of Jaro has called on all devotees to offer prayers for the swift recovery and healing of Pope Francis, who remains hospitalized due to a serious medical condition.
In a statement, the Archdiocese urged the faithful to unite with the global Christian community in prayer for the Pope’s well-being.
“As Pope Francis continues to be hospitalized due to a complex medical condition, let us heed the call of our Church leaders and join the whole Christendom in praying for the speedy recovery and healing of our Holy Father,” the statement read.
The Archdiocese further requested that devotees include Pope Francis in their prayers and masses, and invoked the intercession of the Blessed Mother Mary and Saint Joseph for both the Pope and all the sick around the world.
Devotees have been encouraged to recite the “Prayer for the Immediate Healing of Pope Francis” and the “Prayer for Pope Francis” in their prayers.
According to the latest health update from the Holy See Press Office, as of February 22, Pope Francis’ condition remains critical. The report, posted by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Sunday, February 23 (Philippine time), stated:
“The condition of the Holy Father continues to be critical. Therefore, as explained yesterday, the Pope is not out of danger. This morning, Pope Francis experienced an asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity, which required the administration of high-flow oxygen.
“Today’s blood tests also revealed thrombocytopenia, associated with anemia, which required the administration of blood transfusions. The Holy Father remains alert and spent the day in an armchair, although he is more uncomfortable than yesterday. At the moment, the prognosis remains guarded.”
