MANILA – Arellano University Lady Chiefs’ title-retention bid remain on track after snatching the first semifinals seat in the NCAA women’s volleyball on Monday at San Juan Arena.

Lady Chiefs, the two-time defending champions, formalized its Final Four entry after a 25-19, 25-11, 25-8 sweep over the hapless Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals.

Save for the tightly-contested opening set, the Lady Chiefs simply imposed their will on both ends of the floor against the Lady Generals to wrap up the match in the 63-minute contest.

Ni-remind ko lang yung mga bata kung ano ‘yung target namin para sa game na ito. Siyempre, gusto naming itaas ‘yung morale namin lalo,” said Lady Chiefs head coach Obet Javier.

Regine Arocha led the way with double-double 14 points and 11 digs, while Necole Ebuen chipped in nine points, including three blocks, for the Lady Chiefs, which improved to 7-0.

Jaylene May Lumbo came through with nine points, including two blocks, and 12 digs for the Lady Generals, which remained at last place in the standings with 0-8 win-loss slate.

Meanwhile, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Lady Altas moved in a tie with San Sebastian Lady Stags at No. 4 following a 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 romp of Mapua Lady Cardinals.

Cindy Imbo had 12 points and 16 digs while Hannah Suico scored all of her 11 points from spikes for the Lady Altas, which improved to 4-2 win-loss card with three games remaining./PN
