MANILA – Arellano University Lady Chiefs handed San Beda University Lady Red Spikers its first defeat of the NCAA Season 95 Women’s Volleyball with a a 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 sweep at the San Juan Arena.
Regine Arocha initiated the Lady Chiefs’ offense with 18 points built on 13 attacks, three service aces and two blocks for the three-time champions to hike to a 5-0 win-loss record.
The Season 94 MVP Necole Ebuen had her best game so far this season with 12 points set up on eight attacks and four blocks, including the match-clinching block highlight against Lady Red Spikers’ Nieza Viray.
San Beda got the upper hand in all the sets, but the Lady Chiefs’ defense, particularly at the net, did its job of keeping the frames close before eventually working in the latter’s favor.
College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers also cruised to its fifth straight victory in as many games following a 25-18, 25-13, 25-17 sweep over the hapless San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags.
Meanwhile, University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas clinched its fourth consecutive victory in five games after taking down the slumping Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers, 25-19, 25-20, 25-20.
In the other match, Lyceum of the Philippines Lady Pirates made a short work against Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15, for its second consecutive victory./PN
