ILOILO City – Three drunken men allegedly mauled a village chief in Barangay Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo district.
The 61-year-old resident Sezar Espinosa sustained bruises on the face, police said.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on April 7, a police report showed.
Barangay Sta. Monica, Oton, Iloilo residents Dennis Alipungat, 45, Allan Cadiz, 42 and Allan Alipungat, 44, were tagged as suspects.
According to the police, Espinosa was navigating the road on board his car that night when the suspects blocked his way.
The village chief got out of the car and was mauled by the suspects, the police added. It was not immediately clear what triggered the mauling.
The suspects were arrested and detained in the lockup cell of the Arevalo police station.
They were facing charges for alarm and scandal, resisting arrest and direct assault./PN
