ILOILO City – Two brothers he was binge-drinking with tricked him into taking a “blue tablet” and one of them physically assaulted him, a resident of Barangay Santo Niño, Arevalo told the police.
Rio Anog identified the brothers as Peter and Joenard Araquil, 33 and 38 years old, respectively, a police report showed.
Anog, 36, told the district police he just had lunch at his brother’s house when he joined Peter and Joenard who invited him to drink whisky at around 2 p.m. on May 28.
Peter and Joenard offered him a blue tablet they said was a food supplement but he refused to take it, Anog said.
Anog claimed the brothers tricked him into taking the tablet by mixing it into his drink. He felt dizzy afterward and decided to go home, the complainant told the police.
Peter followed him on his way home, Anog claimed. He punched him on the mouth and repeatedly hit him, said the complainant.
Peter then allegedly drew out a knife and stabbed Anog, but the latter dodged the attack and escaped with the help of a responding relative, the police report stated.
The Araquil brothers cannot be reached for comment as of this writing.
Anog sustained a wound on the lip, swelling and wounds on the head, and bruises and scratches on various parts of the body.
Iloilo City Emergency Response team personnel brought him to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao.
Police advised Anog to refer the incident to the barangay lupon. (Christine Lorraine Gallo, Intern/PN)
