ON HIS eponymous show Tonight with Boy Abunda, Boy Abunda asked actor Arjo Atayde if Maine Mendoza is already his girlfriend.
Arjo, deep in thought, kept a serious face and showed no signs of kilig. Not answering yes or no, he said instead, “I would love to answer you, Tito Boy. But I’ll leave this with you: I’m happy with whatever we have right now. I’m super contented. I’m not going to mess this up. That’s how happy I am.”
He continued, “I mean no disrespect, but that’s all I can give you. As of now, honestly speaking, we want to keep it to ourselves first. It’s not that we’re not considering to speak out soon or later on. It might cause more damage if, you know.”
Boy prodded Arjo to clear things up. “If you say yes, what happens?”
“People will go after me, my family,” Arjo replied. “Those guys who are still online.”
Arjo clarified that the hate towards him doesn’t bother him at all, but when aimed at his family, it’s too much. He shared that his family even received death threats.
But the Q&A didn’t end on a dismal note. Boy asked, “If you were to marry a girl today and this is the last day of the world, the girl would be?”
Arjo smiled to himself before looking at Boy to say: “Maine.”
Arjo revealed he was dating Maine in January this year. Maine confirmed it just last month. (Cosmo)
