ILOILO City – A farmer facing two murder charges was shot to death in Barangay General Luna, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
The 50-year-old Mariconi Jamosin died of gunshot wounds on the head, neck and body around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
There were three gunmen, according to Chief Inspector Joven Arevalo, police chief of Barotac Viejo.
Jamosin was buying fish when shot. The men left the crime scene hurriedly.
Responding policemen recovered 14 spent bullet shells of a .45 pistol.
Arevalo said the shooting may have something to do with the two murder cases Jamosin was charged with.
Jamosin was accused of killing a farmer in Barangay General Luna sometime in October 2017. But he managed to post bail.
He had another murder case.
“Revenge could be the killers’ motive,” said Arevalo.
Days after the October 2017 murder case, three armed men abducted Jamosin’s two sons but released them afterwards.
The armed men were actually looking for Jamosin but the farmer was not at home so they took the latter’s sons, said Arevalo.
“We will check if the men who shot Jamosin were the same men who abducted his sons,” said Arevalo./PN
