ILOILO City – The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) based in Jamindan, Capiz welcomed 208 more solders that it would mobilize to achieve its goal – eradicate rebels in Panay Island by the end of this year.
The 208 soldiers came from the 6th Infantry Division in Central Mindanao, 4th Infantry Division in Northern Mindanao and 7th Infantry Division in Nueva Ecija in Luzon.
“We are determined to wipe out the rebels. These additional enlisted soldiers will surely boost our fervent desire to end the bloody insurgency and terrorism being waged by the rebels,” said 3ID commander Brigadier General Dinoh Dolina.
The 3ID created a new battalion, the 94th Infantry Battalion (94IB), just for this.
The augmentation troops are also expected to assist local government units deliver basic services to grassroots communities, said Dolina.
The 94IB is based in Camp Monteclaro in the town of Miag-ao, Iloilo.
Dolina also disclosed that the 15IB had returned to Negros Island after several years of being deployed to Mindanao.
“With the creation of the 94IB, the returned of 15IB and 208 augmentation personnel, the 3ID has become stronger. It now has enough men to end the insurgency problem,” said Dolina./PN
