BACOLOD City – At least 17,000 individuals gathered for the MassKara Festival 2023 grand countdown dubbed “salubong” from Friday night, Oct. 6, until midnight.

Colonel Noel Alinio, director of the Bacolod City Police Office, said 125 police personnel secured the Bacolod City Government Center grounds for an orderly and peaceful start to the festivities.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez welcomed the positive feedback from the crowd.

“This was just a launch. I hope more people will be coming because many activities are lined up,” Benitez said.

A well-known K-Pop group and the TVJ-EAT group will be part of the celebration, he revealed.

The first family has been invited to witness the festival highlight, the MassKara street dance and arena competition, on Oct. 22.

“Come to the super city of Bacolod to witness the grandest celebration of MassKara Festival,” Benitez invited.

In attendance during the opening salvo were Bacolod City’s Cong. Greg Gasataya, Negros Occidental’s Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, members of the city council, and other officials and guests from all over the province./PN
