Around 70K in WV get booster shots vs COVID

ILOILO City – Almost 70, 000 individuals in Western Visayas already received booster shots against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 as of Jan. 4 showed 69,938 individuals belonging to Priority Group A1, A2 and A3 got booster doses.

Of these, 40,900 were under AI group; 21, 035 are under A2; and 8,003 under A3.

The total masterlisted individuals for booster shots in Region 6 is 1,309,379 of which 129,459 are under A1 group; 658, 982 under A2; and 520, 938 under A3.

There is no data yet for other priority groups.

Bacolod City has the highest accomplishment as far as COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are concerned (27,068 individuals), followed by Iloilo province with 13,459 and Iloilo City with 11,961.

Capiz province was able to give booster shots to 5,169 residents; Antique, 4,163; Aklan, 4,024; Negros Occidental 3, 458; and Guimaras 638.

Booster shots after at least three months from second dose have been recommended as an added layer of protection especially against the more transmissible Omicron variant.

DOH has been emphasizing that all vaccines and even the booster dose give significant protection COVID19) including Omicron variant.

At the city hall, the city government is implementing the “no booster, no entry” effective Jan. 17 as part of its precautionary measures against Omicron variant./PN
