ILOILO City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6) and the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) are intensifying their anti-illegal drug operations in preparation for the Dinagyang Festival 2023.
Atty. Bomrad Abonado, PDEA-6 spokesperson, said they are focused on local ports that would possibly be used as passage way by drug peddlers to transport the contraband.
“We have K-9 dogs that will help us detect contrabands in seaports with the help of other concerned government forces,” he said.
Abonado added that they are monitoring the movements of known and suspected newly identified drug pushers in close coordination with the PRO-6.
On the other hand, PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, said recent apprehensions and huge recoveries of shabu in the region seemed to indicate that the supply of the prohibited substance remains substantial.
“Patuloy ang ating operations at pag-monitor sa mga drug pushers at kung maari high-value drug personalities ang targets natin na may malaking dalang droga. We try our best na mapigilan ang pagbenta,” Francisco said.
The region’s top cop earlier ordered all station commanders to intensify their intelligence monitoring since the demand for illegal drugs increases during festivities due to the influx of people and visitors./PN
