ASHLEY Ortega has put the romance speculations between her and Mavy Legaspi to rest, as she confirmed that they are indeed in a relationship.
Ortega revealed the real score with Legaspi during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview on Monday, February 10, when asked if they are dating. The topic came up after the actress spoke about wanting to keep her personal life “private.”
“I think it’s obvious naman,” she initially replied. This led to Abunda asking the same question, reiterating that Ortega must answer with a “yes or no,” to which she said, “yes.”
The actress then shared that she met Legaspi when they were still young, although they became closer sometime in 2024.
“I met Mavy a few years ago, mga bata pa kami n’un, when he started signing the contract sa Sparkle. We started hanging out more last year. D’un ko siya nakilala talaga,” Ortega said.
Abunda then asked Ortega if she got closer to Legaspi when he was in a relationship with Kyline Alcantara. The “Pulang Araw” star then responded with: “No, after na ‘yun.”
Touching on how their romance started, Ortega said she became closer to Legaspi after bonding with friends. Legaspi then asked the actress out for “lunch and dinner” so they could know each other more.
“And then it started when there was this one night noong kasama ko mga friends namin, d’un ko siya nakilala. Nagtuloy-tuloy na, and he asked me out if we can have lunch [or] dinner together just to get to know more about each other,” she recalled.
Ortega described Legaspi as a “really thoughtful person,” while sharing that she was impressed with him “matching” her maturity. This is due to the actress being older than Legaspi by three years.
“He is younger than me eh… but he’s actually mature. In a relationship, ako ’yung pabebe girl. He takes care of me. ‘Yun ang napatunayan niya while we’re going out,” she further added.
Ortega and Legaspi sparked romance rumors after they were spotted together at a Sinulog Festival-related festivities in Cebu back in January. The actor-host was then asked about their status in an interview shortly after, to which he kept his lips sealed.The actress was previously in a relationship with Lucena City’s Mayor Mark Alcala. She confirmed that they parted ways late in 2022.
Meanwhile, Legaspi was romantically involved with his onscreen partner Alcantara, although they broke up sometime in 2024. The Kapuso actress is currently dating basketball player Kobe Paras. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
