ILOILO City – An alleged “asset” of the Regional Intelligence Office (RIO) was arrested inside the dance hall of Brgy. Sambag, Jaro district for carrying an unlicensed gun with ammunitions.
Twenty-nine-year-old Vincent Catedrilla of Brgy. Agsirab, Lambunao, Iloilo, however, believes he should not have been intercepted because he had introduced himself as a RIO asset.
Confiscated from Catedrilla was a caliber .38 revolver with six ammunitions.
He reportedly entered the dance hall of the barangay around 1:20 a.m.
Two barangay tanods, Ceferino Escalada and Lory Venturanza, recovered the gun from Catedrilla’s waistline when he was frisked and when he was asked for the license of his gun.
The suspect reportedly showed his identification card to the police and introduced himself as an asset of RIO.
However, Chief Insp. Rhea Santos, Jaro police chief, said Catedrilla is not exempted from carrying unlicensed gun even if he is an asset of RIO.
Catedrilla is now detained at Police Station 3 and he will be charged with illegal gun possession./PN
