ILOILO – A 33-year-old construction worker was arrested yesterday in Barangay Bagacay, San Rafael town.
Rey Lagura, a resident of Barotac Viejo town, was accused of raping a 16-year-old boy.
According to Police Lieutenant Mary Jane Panes, officer-in-charge of the San Rafael police force, the suspect was positively identified by the victim Toto (not his real name).
The rape allegedly happened around 11 p.m. on Aug. 18.
The victim was a native of Pavia town but was staying in the house of a relative in San Rafael, Panes said.
Investigation revealed that Toto attended a birthday party of a friend whose house was meters away from his relative’s. There he saw the suspect.
The suspect allegedly tailed Toto, dragged him to a dimly-lit area and at knifepoint forced the lad to perform oral and anal sex.
The victim told his grandmother about the rape yesterday morning (Aug. 19).
The suspect, a married man, was immediately arrested at a construction site where he was working.
“He told us he did not know what he did because he was drunk,” Panes told Panay News.
Medical examination discovered anal lacerations on Toto, who is now in the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development.
“We will file rape complaint,” Panes said.
The suspect was detained at the San Rafael police station./PN
