ATENEO de Iloilo kept their unblemished slate in the elementary basketball of the 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet at the Ledesco Gym of Hua Siong College of Iloilo.
Led by the 23 points of point guard Jurrien Iñigo Tenorio, Ateneo scored a lopsided 62-26 victory over the struggling Santa Clarita International High School Primes (1-2) on Tuesday.
Ateneo (2-0) – the defending champions in the elementary division – tied with the idle Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix on second place, right behind University of San Agustin (3-0).
San Agustin banked on the exploits of Chad Ernest Cartel and Robert Paul Figueroa to score a 62-42 win over St. Joseph School (0-2). Cartel finished with 23 points while Figueroa added 14.
PAREF-Westbridge School for Boys, meanwhile, snapped its two-game losing skid with a 72-33 win over Santa Isabel College of Iloilo. John Ramiel Edang and John Arian Altubar had 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Westbridge.
Action resumes today at the Western Institute of Technology gym with secondary boys category B matches between San Agustin and Santa Isabel, and St. Joseph and Iloilo Sacred Heart School starting at 10 a.m.
The afternoon session starting at 2 p.m. will feature tertiary level matches between WIT and Iloilo Doctors’ College, and San Agustin and John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University./PN
