BACOLOD City – Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses are set to face each other in a volleyball friendly game this Oct. 9 at the University of St. La Salle Gym here.
According to Bacolodnon volleyball patron Jose Montalbo, the two UAAP women’s volleyball teams agreed to the exhibition match which will be part of the city’s annual MassKara Festival.
“The Ateneo-UST exhibition match is a great treat to Bacolodnon volleyball fans as the city marks the return of MassKara Festival after two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Montalbo told Panay News on Thursday.
“It is also worth noting that the Blue Eagles and the Golden Tigresses are among the popular collegiate volleyball teams in this city so the organizers are happy that they accepted the invite,” he added.
This will be the Blue Eagles’ second time to play in Bacolod City this UAAP offseason. They are scheduled to play Akari Power Chargers in an exhibition match this Sunday at the USLS Gym.
Both Ateneo and UST also have Western Visayas-based players in their roster with the Blue Eagles having Ilongga Roma Mae Doromal and Negrense Beutiliza Lomocso and the Tigresses parading Ilongga Elisha Juliene Apostol and Bacolodnon Cassie Carballo.
Other possible players in Ateneo lineup are Faith Nisperos, Vanessa Gandler, Sophia Ildefonso, Alexa Miner, Joan Narit, Kiara Cruz, Jean Licauco, Lyann De Guzman, Takako Fujimoto, Yvana Sulit, Geezel Tsunashima, Gena Hora, and Makana Kowalski.
The UST will have Ejiya Laure, Imee Hernandez, Bernadett Pepito, Milenna Alessandrini, Ypril Tapia, Kecelyn Galdonez, Ma. Regina Magulabnan, Ysabel Jimenez, Camille Victoria, Renee Penafiel, Athena Abbu, Janel Delerio, Jonna Perdido, Pierre Abellana, Mary Christine Ecalla, and Mary Grace Vernaiz.
The Blue Eagles and the Golden Tigresses have a recent history in UAAP women’s volleyball. They faced each other in Season 84 step-ladder semifinals and in Season 82 championship series.
Ticket prices are as follows: P150 for upperbox (3,000 seats), P1,500 for patron (800 seats), P2,500 for courtside (150 seats), P3,000 for VIP Stage (100 seats) and reserved seating behind bench P5,000 (50 seats). Details on ticket selling will be announced soon./PN
