
MANILA – Ateneo Blue Eagles hardly broke a sweat to score an 84-50 domination of the University of the East Red Warriors to stay undefeated in the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
George Isaac Go drained three triples and finished with 13 points while Ilonggo Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena III and Angelo Kouame had 11 each as the Blue Eagles rises to 12-0.
The Red Warriors’ 4-0 start turned out to be its one and only stand. The Blue Eagles went on a 17-2 run to seize control of the game before extending the lead to 17, 40-23, late in the second period.
The lead ballooned further in the second half. It went up to as high as 36 points, 82-46, with Go completing an and-one play with 1:03 left in the match.
Alex Diakhite fired 15 points, 15 rebounds and four assists while Rey Suerte collected 10 points, four boards, and two dimes as the Red Warriors dropped to 3-9.
In the second game, University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons continued to own Adamson University Falcons’ number with an 81-77 come-from-behind win.
Jun Manzo led the Fighting Maroons’ amazing fightback from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter, rallying from a 72-60 hole with 7:10 remaining much to the dismay of the Soaring Falcons./PN
