Ateneo, St. Robert’s dominate ISSA Meet taekwondo

TAEKWONDO jins from Ateneo de Iloilo Blue Dragons and St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets ruled the 2018 ISSA Meet taekwondo at the Ateneo de Iloilo gym.

The Blue Dragons romped away with 24 medals – 20 golds, two silvers and two bronzes – while the Panda Rockets bagged 19 – nine golds and 10 silvers.

Enzo Lucio Cape and Clyde Anthony Chua of the Blue Dragons bagged a gold medal each in elementary boys individual poomsae before teaming up with Josh Karl Macahilig for the team poomsae gold in the Oct. 8 event.

Von Escabilla, Enzoio Cape and Macahilig also got a gold each in elementary boys kyorugi while Chua failed to duplicate the golden finish of his poomsae teammates after settling for silver in kyorugi.

Samantha Gayle Go and Ameila Carla Victoria won a gold medal each in elementary girls individual poomsae before joining Sofia Jessie Uy in ruling team poomsae.

Victoria also partnered with Chua in mixed poomsae and won gold. Uy, Go, Victoria, Andria Margaret Palabrica, and Sophia Grace Go captured a gold medal each in elementary girls kyorugi.

Blue Dragons’ secondary athletes Xyrus Andrei Desierto and Conrad Joseph Pido netted two gold medals each in poomsae before adding another one each in kyorugi. Jose Enrico Chan settled for a bronze.

In secondary girls’ poomsae, Ma. Wilmena Popelo topped the mixed pair before settling for silver in kyorugi.

The Panda Rockets’ jins were also dominant. Raphael Lloyd and Ronald Pico Sindico won a gold medal each in secondary boys kyorugi while Angela Bermejo bagged another in secondary girls individual poomsae.

Joshua Glenn Grecia, Jhed Anthony Morata, Princess Dedoroy, Kyna Gemarino, Katrina Pabelico Mamaril, and Geraldine Aguirre Diana also delivered a gold medal each in kyorugi.

The Panda Rockets’ Jannah Cheska Solatorio, Shanen Anica Feranco, Dedoroy Lusaya, and Red Dyron had silvers in kyorugi, while Bermejo, Lusaya, Diana, Raphael Sindico, and Morata also placed second in individual poomsae.

Also bagging silvers were the trio of Lusaya, Diana and Bermejo, and Sindicos and Grecia in team poomsae; and Ronald Pico and Gemarino in mixed pair poomsae./PN
