Ateneo, St. Robert’s jins reap taekwondo medals in ILOPRISAA

TAEKWONDO jins from Ateneo de Iloilo and St. Robert’s International Academy displayed their winning ways in the PRISAA 2018 taekwondo competition in Iloilo City.

Ateneo jins mentored by Denmark Pinggol captured overall titles in elementary boys and girls while settling for a runner-up spot in secondary girls on Wednesday.

Cyd Edryc Esmaña and Clyde Anthony Chua captured a gold each in individual poomsae A, and then teamed up to bag a gold in team poomsae.

The other elementary boys gold was from Josh Karl Macahilig in 144-152cm kyorugi.

Winning gold medals in elementary girls were Niesha Kariz Pequierda (team and mixed poomsae), Julianna Martha Uy (individual A and team poomsae) and Sophie Grace Go (kyorugi). Ameila Carla Victoria captured silver in kyorugi.

In secondary girls Ma. Wilmena Popelo took home a gold medal in team poomsae and a bronze in mixed pair, while Mary Wen Anthony Rivera had a silver medal in kyorugi welterweight.

Ateneo also had two medals in secondary boys – a gold from Xyrus Andrei Desierto in kyorugi 45kg and a bronze from Conrad Joseph Pido in mixed pair.

Meanwhile St. Robert’s International Academy bagged five gold medals courtesy of Ronald Kyle Pico, Joshua Glenn Grecia, Jhen Anthony Morata, Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, and Katrina Mamaril in kyorugi.

Kyorugi bets Raphael Lloyd Pico and Geraldine Diana won a silver each while Rannie Rose Dedoroy, Janna Cheska Solatorio and Kyna Zurielle Gemarino settled for bronze medals each./PN
