MANILA – Collegiate rivals Ateneo Lady Eagles and De La Salle University Lady Spikers are set to cross paths in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball today at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Game time is at 4 p.m.

The Lady Eagles is currently on a four-game winning run while the Lady Spikers is coming from a defeat. They are set to break their tie at 4-2 card.

Lady Eagles star Bea de Leon said they are preparing for the tendency of the Lady Spikers venting its ire on them following the latter’s shock defeat to Adamson Lady Falcons last week.

“You know with the Ateneo-La Salle match, you can never really tell who has the advantage,” said De Leon. “As we always say, Ateneo-La Salle, no stats needed, nothing. No standings.”

“We are wary of La Salle’s ability to bounce back from a loss,” she added. “Hopefully we get to take a slight advantage of that (streak). But I think it’s gonna be really close. You know La Salle.”

Lady Spikers head coach Ramil de Jesus, for his part, said he is just hoping that his players will regain their championship form after their early struggles in the elimination round.

“Ang sa akin lang, manalo o matalo basta lumabas ‘yung character inside the court. Kung hindi lalabas ‘yung character, ‘yun ‘yung problema kasi hindi La Salle ‘yun. Doon ako nagwo-worry kung papano ‘yun,” said De Jesus.

Before the Lady Eagles-Lady Spikers battle, University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses (2-4) and Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws will tangle at 2 p.m./PN
