KALIBO, Aklan – The Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival, considered the mother of Philippine festivals, has been invited to grace the 2017 Chinese New Year celebration in Hong Kong.
Roselle Ruiz, provincial tourism officer, said the capitol received an invitation from Hong Kong coursed through the Department of Tourism (DOT).
“DOT wrote us to send a delegation to the Chinese New Year festivities in Hong Kong next year,” Ruiz said.
Hong Kong’s Chinese New Year celebration will be held on Jan. 28, 2017.
The provincial government already informed the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival, Inc. (KASAFI) about it.
KASAFI is the organizer of the annual Ati-atihan Festival. It has started its own preparation for the annual Ati-atihan Festival on January 2017.
The foundation is now accepting entries for the Miss Ati-atihan beauty pageant – one of the side activities of the world-famous festival./PN
