AUSTRIAN police have put 96 foreigners, including Britons, into mandatory quarantine after caught breaching coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) restrictions by taking a skiing holiday.
Each of them faces a fine of up to €2,180 (£1,921; $2,633).
Austrian ski slopes remain open for locals, but not for foreigners.
Austria has imposed quarantines and strict rules on entering the country, in large part to discourage skiers.
Interior Minister Karl Nehammer said “whoever fails to obey the (COVID-19) rules and stays in our country without justification must be fined”.
Tyrol regional governor Günther Platter said there would be “zero tolerance” for violators of the rules. (BBC)
