ILOILO City – The public is advised to stay at home especially this summer season to be safe from sickness.
“If you have no transaction or have nothing to do outside, just stay at home to avoid the scorching heat,” advised Iloilo City Health Office (CHO) chief Dr. Bernard Caspe.
The extreme heat of the sun can be felt from 10 a.m. to 3.p.m.
If going outside the house could not be avoided, Caspe advised the public to always use umbrella or wear cap.
“Always take a lot of water, too, to hydrate your body,” he added.
Meanwhile, the CHO chief said that among the common summer diseases are sore eyes, chicken pox and mumps.
Sore eyes or conjunctivitis can easily be contacted due to harmful bacteria or viruses that easily spread to the other people.
If sore eyes is not treated properly, it can lead to blindness, according to Department of Health (DOH).
Another infectious one is chicken pox (bulutong tubig) caused by Varicella virus with symptoms at the beginning of illness including fever and body aches, while mumps can be transmitted through saliva. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
