MANILA – Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena caught fire early as Shiga Lakestars turned back Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, 110-79, in the 2021-2022 Japan B.League at the Park Arena Komaki.

The former NLEX Road Warriors star set the tone for the Lakestars with his early offense to jump to an early lead on Sunday. He finished the game with 16 points, nine assists, three steals and three rebounds.

It was a bounce back triumph for Ravena and the Lakestars after being walloped by the Diamond Dolphins on Saturday night, 107-68, in a game where the Filipino import was held to just five points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds.

Ovie Soko tallied double-double of 26 points, 14 rebounds, and two assists, while Sean O’Mara was just as potent down low with his 22 points, nine boards, and five assists.

The Lakestars improved to 6-2 slate.

Bobby Ray Parks, who had 22 points on Saturday night, was held to just seven points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Nagoya’s four-game win run was snapped for an even 4-4 card.

Coty Clarke led the Diamond Dolphins with 26 points, seven boards, five steals, and four assists, as Scott Eatherton chipped in a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kiefer’s younger brother Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena and San-En NeoPhoenix halted their losing run after an 83-66 domination over Ibaraki Robots on Sunday at the Kamisu Disaster Prevention Arena in Japan.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles star tallied seven points, seven rebounds, six assists and a block as the NeoPhoenix halted its three-game slide to improve to 3-5 win-loss slate.

Filipino-American Dwight Ramos, on the other hand, missed on a potential game-tying triple as Toyama Grouses suffered an 83-80 defeat to Ryukyu Golden Kings at Toyama Seibutai Sports Center.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for Ramos and the Grouses as they were on top by 12 points early in the fourth quarter. Ramos finished with 12 points, six rebounds and a block as the Grouses suffered its eighth loss in as many games./PN
