ROXAS City – A male human baby has been dumped into a river in Barangay Banica.
The body was contained in plastic ice cream container wrapped in a plastic bag.
Resident Rudy Lara said he was picking shells at around 11 a.m. on Monday when he noticed a plastic bag tied to a stone.
Lara unwrapped the plastic bag and found the plastic container that had the baby and a rosary in it.
Responding Capiz Emergency Response Team personnel said the baby appeared to be one to two months premature. Its umbilical cord was still uncut, they said.
Strips of adhesive tape were used to seal the plastic container while a piece of cloth was placed on the baby’s back.
Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Roxas City police station were leading the investigation into who may have dumped the baby.
This was not the first time a lifeless baby was left in the city, police said.
Last week a fetus was also dumped at the sanitary landfill in Barangay San Jose. Police were still trying to identify who left the fetus as of press time./PN
