Babysitter ‘steals’ chocolates in Hypermarket

ILOILO City – Accused of stealing packs of chocolates worth more than P1,000 from SM Hypermarket, a woman was detained at the Jaro police station.

The 30-year-old babysitter Mira Saidon was arrested at around 6 p.m. on Monday, a police report showed.

Saidon, a resident of Barangay Santa Monica, Dumalag, Capiz, took the items without paying for them at the cashier, a security guard who caught her told the police.

Seized from her were three packs (260 grams each) of Hershey’s Kisses Special Dark Sweet Chocolate worth P1,003 and one pack of Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates with Almonds worth P299.50.

The motive of Saidon was not immediately clear.

Security guard Randy Losaria saw Saidon leaving the establishment with the items placed inside her gray shoulder bag.

He asked Saidon for a receipt but the latter failed to show any. That was when Losaria checked her bag and arrested her.

Losaria then turned over the suspect to the responding mobile police patrol. (Mariane Camell Braseliño, Intern/PN)
