BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) will next month have two new directors in its board.
The newly appointed Baciwa board of directors will be Lawrence Villanueva, representing the business, commercial and financial sector, and Eduardo Ravena, representing the professional sector.
Their appointment will take effect on Jan. 1, 2019, according to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who issued two separate appointment orders for Villanueva and Ravena, dated Dec. 10.
Leonardia said he had appointed the two, by the power vested in him by Presidential Decree (PD) No. 198 .
Part of PD No. 198 , section 10 cites that “the list of nominees shall be transmitted by the Secretary of the district to the office of the appointing authority on or before Nov. 15 of such year and he shall make his appointment from the list submitted on or before Dec. 15.”
Leonardia said that Villanueva and Ravena will replace Baciwa directors Cecilia Henares and Marichi Ramos, whose terms will expire on Dec. 31.
The mayor explained that he has to appoint Villanueva and Ravena before Dec. 15 as required by the law.
Leonardia said that Baciwa had followed the proper procedure before they submitted to his office the list of nominees to be members of the board of directors for the water facility.
He added that Vilanueva is already a former member of the Baciwa board of directors, while Ravena is a former city accountant.
Leonardia appointed Villanueva and Ravena for he believes in their competence and integrity, seeing them pursue the vision to see to it that Bacolod water is supplied to as many portion and sectors as possible./PN
