Baciwa directors told to resign over ‘failed job’

BACOLOD City – Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. called for the resignation of the city’s water concessionaire officials for failure of doing their job.

“I’m calling on the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) board of directors to resign because they failed to perform and to protect the consumers’ rights and public interest,” Gamboa reiterated.

The city councilor lambasted Baciwa’s failure to conduct a public hearing on the proposed joint venture on public-private partnership between the Prime Water.

“They are now discussing the terms of reference of the proposed joint venture and there’s a possibility that they will sign the contract between the Prime Water anytime,” he said.

On May 27, Gamboa joined a rally with Social Action Center, Baciwa employees union and consumers group to condemn Baciwa’s negligence.

“Baciwa’s board of directors is the one who pushes the policy directions so they should also consider the consumers rights,” he stressed.

Baciwa chairman of the board Lorendo Dilag meanwhile slammed his critic’s allegations.

“Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. must study further the laws on water,” Dilag stressed.

He confirmed that they are now in the process of continuing the negotiation under the terms and conditions of the joint agreement.

“What we are doing right now are all proposals, nothing is definite,” Dilag said.

The Baciwa top official explained the proposals are being finalized and will be published soon.

Sa gusto mag express sang ila opinion, ginapasigi lang na namon kay gusto namon sang transparency,” he reiterated./PN
