BACOLOD City – Concessionaires of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) will be paying additional P2 for the Meter Repair and Maintenance Fee (MRMF) starting February.

The MRMF, which is now named the Service Connection and Maintenance Fee, previously costs P13.

The fee covers water meter relocation, elevation, testing, and replacements, and other maintenance services.

Juliana Carbon, general manager of Baciwa, said the fee has not been increased since 1973.

Carbon issued a notice dated Jan. 16 informing all Baciwa concessionaires about the fee increase.

She said the increase is “just minimal.”

On the other hand, Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said he will file before the city council a resolution proposal that will request Baciwa to explain the fee increase.

Gamboa said he will also ask the water district to give an update on the city’s bulk water project./PN
