
MANILA – All-Star Bacolod Ballers Bingo Plus cruised to a 99-89 win over ICC Blue Hawks in the 2022 Filbasket Summer Championship on Monday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center in Muntinlupa City.
Jerome Garcia waxed hot with six three-point conversions to end up with 20 markers as the Ballers notched its fifth straight win to improve to 6-2 win-loss slate.
Mark Maloles and Kraniel Villoria chipped in 12 and 11 markers, respectively, while Mark Anthony Dela Cruz and Alwyn Alday ended up with 10 points each for Bacolod.
The Ballers trailed 16-11 early in the opening quarter before surging to a 27-21 advantage after the first 12 minutes on three straight outside conversions from Garcia.
Garcia continued his fiery outside shooting in the second period with back-to-back triples, while Maloles, Villoria and Nomer Gonzales made their contributions that swelled the lead to 52-37.
The Bacolodnons opened the third quarter with outside conversions from Maloles, Villoria, Dela Cruz and Negrense Mark Yee. The lead grew to its largest at 77-55 on Garcia’s sixth triple.
The Blue Hawks countered with a strong fourth quarter rampage as the deficit were trimmed down to eight points but timely shots from Lee Yu, Yee and Dela Cruz to wrap up the win for the Ballers.
“It was a momentous game and a game of experiment as well,” said Bacolod head coach Alex Angeles. “I was able to field all locals at the early stage of the game.”
Jeric Garcia led the way with double-double 33 points and 13 rebounds, while Alfred Flores and Gerard Cabreros added 23 and 13 markers, respectively, as the Blue Hawks dropped to 0-8.
The Ballers will have a week-long break before resuming to action on April 19 as it battles Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines at seven in the evening at the SJDM Sports Complex in Bulacan.
