BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here launched a fire safety advocacy campaign yesterday, dubbed “Reels-On-The-Bus.”

In collaboration with the city government and the Negros East Transport Service Cooperative (NETSCO), the campaign seeks to raise fire safety awareness among city commuters.  Additionally, it coincides with Fire Prevention Month.

“Reels-On-The-Bus” features a 30-second advocacy video displayed inside all six modernized jeepneys operated by NETSCO, covering the Mansilingan-Downtown Area route.

Fire Chief Inspector Stephen Jardeleza, the city fire marshal, said the “Reels-On-The-Bus” campaign takes advantage of the widespread use of public transportation to disseminate critical fire safety information to the community.

“This initiative is in line with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez’s vision to transform Bacolod City into a smart city where innovation and safety are interconnected,” Jardeleza said.

The advocacy video is scheduled to play 120 times a day, ensuring it reaches approximately 350 to 400 passengers in each modernized jeepney.

Jardeleza cited NETSCO for helping promote fire safety awareness.

“We are deeply grateful to NETSCO for their support in making fire safety more accessible to the people of Bacolod. By working together, we can build a safer and more resilient community,” Jardeleza said.

Fire Officer 1 Paul Servano, public information officer of BFP-Bacolod City, said  the initiative is planned as a year-long campaign./PN
