MANILA – Bacolod Master Sardines failed to hang on its early advantage to suffer a 78-69 defeat to Navotas Uni Pak Sardines Clutch in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season at the Blue Eagles Gym in Quezon City.
After leading by as much as 19 points in the second half, the Bacolodnons slowly lost its shooting in the second half until fully surrendering the advantage to the Clutch in the fourth quarter.
Bacolod trailed early in the match before gaining the advantage behind outside shooting of Jopher Custodio, Louie Medalla and Nico Paolo Javelona to build a 41-35 edge at the half.
The lead grew to its biggest in the third quarter for Bacolod but Navotas countered with a huge rally to regain the edge at 66-65 and outscoring their opponents 13-4 in the final minutes.
Allan Evangelista was hailed as the player of the match after finishing with 14 points for the 1-1 Clutch. Francis Munsayac added 13 markers, while Elmer Cabahug and Ronald Roy had 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
Mark Tallo finished with 18 points, while Javelona and Custodio contributed 13 and 10 markers for Bacolod, which suffer its second straight defeat to slid down to 1-2 win-loss slate./PN
