BACOLOD CITY – The City Anti-Drug Abuse Council pushes measure to declare villages in the city as drug-free.
“CADAC needs your participation, support and cooperation to clear our villages from drug-infestation,” said Bacolod City Mayor and CADAC chair Evelio Leonardia.
According to Leonardia, pressing issues on illegal drugs will continue to be a government’s top priority under the administration of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
The local government will re-bid the P30-million Drug Treatment Rehabilitation Center and the P5-million Balay Silangan after the previous bidders failed to fulfill the bidding requirements.
CADAC cluster liaison Sammy Montoyo said Balay Silangan is one of the vital requirements for moderately affected barangays to be declared drug free.
Balay Silangan, a national drug reformation program based on the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 2 series of 2018, will offer temporary refuge to reforming drug offenders.
“Make it a point that as a matter of policy, we try to see to it that we get the barangays declared drug free,” Leonardia said. (With a report from PIA/PN)
