Bacolod CDRRMO to activate BCDRRMC due to sudden rains, observance of holy week

BACOLOD City-The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in Bacolod City will activate the barangay disaster risk reduction and management council (BCDRRMC) due to sudden rains that occur every day brought by the Low-Pressure Area (LPA) which forecasted to continue until next week.

Anna Marie Laarni Pornan, head of the CDRRMO said they will also tap the 61 barangays concerning the observance of the holy week.

The CDRRMO will issue a memorandum to the BDRRMC to monitor their area of responsibility, while the CDRRMO is on alert 24/7 every day.

Pornan said that they are monitoring several flood-prone areas in this city because of the reported low-pressure area.” Scattered rain showers from time to time are being experienced here, so we have to activate the BDRRMC for them to be alert,” she pointed out.

Pornan said the CDRRMO in cooperation with the Bacolod City Police Office will coordinate with the churches (Roman Catholic and Philippine Independent ) in this city to know about their holy week activities, especially on holding the procession if there is any.

Let us be reminded that we are still in the situation under the coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19) pandemic, the CDRRMO head said.

Pornann added that during holy week particularly on Easter Sunday, most of the people gather at the beaches, resorts, rivers, and other places to relax and enjoy, that is why we have to be on alert also in these areas.

“This is why, we need to tap the barangays,” she explained./PN
