BACOLOD City – The concessionaires during the three-day celebration of the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival from May 24 to 26 raked in more than P2 million in total sales.
City Tourism Officer Maria Teresa Manalili said there were more than 60 concessionaires in three festival sites: North Capitol Road, The Upper East-Megaworld and Manokan Country.
Manalili claimed this year’s festival was a resounding success.
“With this year’s theme, ‘#InasalGlobal,’ we successfully generated awareness and promoted our chicken inasal to both local and international markets,” she added.
The city government has allocated P2 million for this year’s edition of the festival which celebrates Bacolod’s rich culinary heritage, particularly its famous chicken inasal, and vibrant culture.
Festival organizers had included dance competitions as added attractions to the annual event.
To take chicken inasal global, new events include the dance challenge and modern movement competition as well as the global beats or street dance competition.
Other events include Food Tasting & Beer Pairing, Barangay Inasal Cook-Off & Workshops, and Bacolod Chicken Inasal Awards.
The arena dance competition, the festival’s highlight, was held at the Upper East on May 26.
Barangay Pahanocoy won first place, followed by barangays Banago (second place) and Granada (third place)./PN
