Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival kicks off

BACOLOD City – The three-day Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival kicked off yesterday, May 26, at the North Capitol Road.

Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on tourism chair Councilor Jason Villarosa said tents were installed in case of rain at all festival sites – North Capitol Road, Manokan Country, and the Upper East-Megaworld.

Villarosa said the event is a chance to bring back the economy.

On the other hand, the office of Councilor Celia Flor, chairperson of the SP committee on markets, led the distribution of chicken inasal meals to 1,600 beneficiaries of the city as part of the celebration.

The beneficiaries were from charitable institutions such as the Home for the Aged, the Boys and Girls Home and the Social Development Center.

More than 600 personnel from the Bacolod City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Bacolod Traffic Authority and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were deployed to maintain peace and order.

Festival-goes could also enjoy beer tasting and pairing, an inasal cook-off, and local guest chefs’ chicken inasal renditions, among others.

The SP passed an ordinance “establishing yearly festivities to be known as the Manokan Country Inasal Festival in the City of Bacolod” to be held in May./PN
