Dr. Grace Tan, chief of the Bacolod City Health Office’s Environment Sanitation Division, says the monitoring particularly of kiosks selling food during MassKara Festival 2024 aims to ensure that the food being sold are clean and safe for revelers.

BACOLOD City – The City Health Office (CHO) will conduct regular monitoring of all kiosks at the four festival sites during the duration of the 45th MassKara Festival celebration.

MassKara kiosks operation will commence on October 12 for the Bacolod City public plaza and Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) sites, October 23 to 27 for The Upper East, and October 25, 26 and 27 for Lacson tourism strip.

Dr. Grace Tan, chief of the CHO’s Environment Sanitation Division, said the monitoring particularly of kiosks selling food aims to ensure that the food being sold are clean and safe for revelers.

“In this way, too, kiosk owners will have to maintain cleanliness in their respective areas,” Tan added.

Kiosks owners are also required to secure a special permit including sanitation permit from the city government.

Earlier this month, the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc. (BYFI), the organizer of the MassKara Festival, started selling MassKara kiosks.

Kuster Cadagat, secretary and festival director for Cultural and Accredited Events of BYFI, said they expected to sell all the kiosks and booths by the end of this month.

As of this writing, of the 547 food kiosks and corporate booths available across all four festival sites, 354 were already sold.

“Definitely this is an indication of the constant massive support from our business sector especially from our local establishments joining this year’s celebration,” said Cadagat.

This year’s festival theme is Sapphire Celebration. The official events will begin on October 11 and the highlights will be on October 27.

“We prepared more events for each festival site to ensure our local businesses will thrive during the celebration,” Cadagat added.

The BYFI said that more than 30 performers, including celebrities, are expected to add more fun to the city’s grandest celebration./PN
